All My Love Suite

Today's card share features product from the All My Love Suite but is actually a birthday card for my 16 year old granddaughter.  It's great when you can incorporate a set of stamps and/or dies that seem to be only adapted for a specific holiday into something completely different.  Sadly the large number thinlits are retired but they will continue to be a part of my stash just for their versatility.

This is a standard 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card base in Whisper White.  The first layer in Lovely Lipstick is cut to at 4" x 5 1/4" and the bottom edge was cut with an edgelit die that is in the Be Mine Stitched Framelits set.  The second layer is DSP from the All My Love pack and is cut to 3 3/4" x 4 3/4".  The scalloped heart is also from the Be Mine Stitched Framelits and along with the numbers were cut from Lovely Lipstick cardstock.  The ribbon is Flirty Flamingo from the All My Love combo pack.  The label with the word sweet and the small stitched heart is from the Stitched Labels Framelits.  Sweet is stamped in Lovely Lipstick on Whisper White and is from the Candy Cane Season stamp set.  The stamp on the envelope is from the Forever Lovely stamp set.

Hope you enjoyed today's share and thanks for visiting.

The count down to the New Year has begun, and also the count down to the new Occasions catalog and Sale-A-Bration.  Stampin' Up's most wonderful time of the year.  The new catalog goes live on Jan. 3rd.  So each day until then I will be sharing a project using something new.

Today is a simple Thank You card using a Very Vanilla note card and envelope, the Butterfly Gala stamp set and Granny Apple Green ink.

Tuesday Tip

Would you like to make a really nice flat ribbon knot on your cards that will be easy to mail?  Directions below the photo:

  1. Measure your ribbon to be about  4" longer than the card stock layer you are going to use.
  2. Tie the ribbon in the center around a pencil in a knot and slide it off the end.
  3. Cut the ribbon in the center of the loop left by the pencil.
  4. Hold one end of the ribbon while pulling the other end to tighten.  Don't pull too tight or you will lose that pretty flat look.  Now you can add to your layer by fastening with glue dots or tape on the back side.  Trim your ends to suit.
You can use other items to tie your knot around, just remember that the bigger the item the longer your ribbon will need to be.

Don't forget about the Birthday Sale going on until 11:55 (mountain time) tonight.  If you would like to make an order you can use this hostess code.   FN9JHT2Q

Have a great day!

Tuesday Tip

Back again for another Tuesday Tip.  I have several customers who have purchased the wonderful Farmhouse Christmas Suite.  The tip for today is concerning the fence die from this set.  This die cuts best when it is run through the machine in the vertical position.  The pressure from the rollers is more even in the direction across the length of the die.  The photo shows the position in relation to the die.

Have a great day!

Tuesday Tip

Hi!  Welcome back for another Tuesday tip.

Today's tip is concerning a punch that may not be punching as cleanly as it has in the past.  The good news is that it probably just needs to be sharpened.  This is much easier than it sounds as the easiest way to sharpen a punch is by punching through aluminum foil.  Yep, that's right.

I usually take a piece and fold it in half and punch through two layers at a time, maybe three or four times.  It may take a few more times but this is what has worked for me in the past.

Have a great day!

Masculine Card with a Fall Scheme

Happy World Card Making Day!

Today's card is more masculine with a fall scheme.  I struggle a little with masculine cards but this one came out better than I originally thought.  This would also make a great sympathy card by changing the sentiment.

The 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card base is Soft Suede.  The DSP is Nature's Poem cut 2 x 5 1/4 attached with snail.  The Cajun Craze layer is 2 3/4 x 5 and was embossed with all three of the embossing dies in the Nature's Roots thinlits.  I aligned all three on one end of the paper and ran through the Big Shot.  Then turned the paper, aligned again and ran through just to far enough to emboss the other end.  This layer was also applied with snail.  The stitched piece is Mint Macaron and was die cut with the Farmhouse Framelits. The sentiment was stamped in Cajun Craze ink on a Whisper White scrap and then cut to about 1 1/4 square.  The ribbon is actually the Braided Linen Trim tied in a knot instead of a bow.  I used two edges of my dimensionals on each side of the trim to add to the card, then added two more smaller edges either side of the trim to add the sentiment.

Hope you enjoyed today's share and thanks for visiting.

Hello Card

It's time for another card share.

The embossing folder I used for this card is in the Holiday Catalog. It is called Tin Tile and has so many uses.  Stunning results when used with metallic paper but I kept this one simple.

Started with the standard card base of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 in Blushing Bride.  The Tin Tile layer is a layer 4 x 5 1/4, also in Blushing Bride.  It was then sponged with Blushing Bride ink and added to the card with dimensionals.  The Pearlized Doily is attached with Tombow glue in the middle where it is hidden.  The Smoky Slate strip is 3/4 x 3 also attached with Tombow.  The Hello (from Varied Vases) and label (from Label Me Pretty) were stamped in Smoky Slate ink on Whisper White and punched out with the Pretty Label punch and added with dimensionals.  Add a few Artisan Pearls and you have a card ready to write a message inside and send to a friend.

Hope you enjoyed today's share and thanks for visiting.

New Home Card

This card was created with a Christmas set, "Farmhouse Christmas" but using it in a different way.  I find it important for me to be able to find other uses for my stamps and dies other than then what seems to be the intention.

I started with a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card base in Basic Gray and ran the front through the Subtle embossing folder.  DSP was cut at 3 3/4 x 4.  Stitched Shape oval was cut from Smoky Slate and embossed with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder.  Fence was cut from Whisper White.  House was stamped with Memento Black and colored with light and dark Smoky Slate Blends and a little Crumb Cake light for the porch and then cutout with the thinlit.  Congrats was also stamped with Memento Black and cut out with the banner from the Takeout thinlits.  DSP and oval were added with Snail, fence with Tombow glue just in the middle and the House and sentiment banner were added with Dimensionals.

Hope you enjoyed today's share and thanks for visiting.
