Tuesday Tip:

Do you have a Stamparatus? Then this tip is for you. If you make multiples of the same cards (like at Christmas) stamping the sentiment can take a while especially if you then die cut it.

Line up a larger piece of cardstock then you really need on the grid of the Stamparatus (great with the new small grid paper), add your stamp to a plate positioned so that it meets the cardstock. Ink and stamp. Now make sure that you remember or mark where that cardstock is on the grid paper, then take it to do the die cut. The left over cardstock is now your guide for all the rest of your stamping. Just take your die cuts and place them in the void.

Tuesday Tip

Another tip for your punches. Although the punch pictured is meant to do a label, you can also get some interesting shapes on the ends of smaller pieces of cardstock. Top cut is a piece 1/2" wide, next is 3/4" wide and the last is 1" wide. So if your greeting is smaller this will give you more options. Take a look at all your punches to see if you can get double duty from them.

Tuesday Tip:

This is another tip for photopolymer stamps.  Depending on the shape or size of the stamp, when you pull them from the plastic sheeting they may distort a little.  If you lay them on a piece of paper stamping side down for just a second they should form back to the original shape.  Then use your acrylic block to pick them up.  Ready to ink and stamp!

Tuesday Tip

It's always great news when you find that one of your punches can do double duty.  Do you like to use banner ends in your cards or scrapbook projects?  The Tailored Tag punch can help you make these up to about 2 1/4" wide.  Just turn your punch over, slide in the paper, align and punch.  Wow!

Tuesday Tip

If you are like me and pretty messy when creating then you have probably pulled out dies from at least two (probably more) sets to play around with your layout.  Although this isn't new information to my brain, sometimes it just doesn't click when I am cleaning up after a session.  Except for the very small die pieces each one is labeled with the Stampin' UP! order number.  As in my case, I kept trying to put the die in the photo below with my other circle dies.  But it is intended for the Bike Ride set to cut out the wheel.  So now it is where it should belong.

Sale-A-Bration Party Pandas

Sale-A-Bration is almost over and some of our favorites will be retired.  Those three months sure go by fast don't they.

Back during the Holiday catalog when the Quilt stamp set and Builder's framelits were so popular I constantly perused Pinterest for ideas to share with my customers and prepare for the Christmas card stacks.  So of course my feed still shows me quilts on a regular basis.  Well, guess what showed up?  Just in the middle of Sale-A-Bration this cute panda quilt showed up.  And of course I needed to make a card.

There was a lot of  'how do I start this' whirling in my mind but then it was clear that I needed to stamp the panda from "Party Pandas" and find out what hole punch would work the best.  Turned out the 1" got all of the head except the ears.  Ahh, but the ears could be added later.  Then, where do I start?  So after laying out the circles it became clear that they overlapped about half of each.  Working from the bottom I penciled in lines every half inch.  My working diagram is below:

 

 

I laid out all of the pieces and then took this photo so that I would have my reference.  The ears were punched out of black with the 1/4" hand held punch and glued to the back of the head with a dot of Tombow. 

 

Starting at the top each circle was added with Tombow (gives a little more time to adjust) following the pencil grid.  Any circles overlapping the edges were trimmed with my scissors by turning the piece over and following the edge of the cardstock.  Any pencil marks were erased and then the piece was embossed with the Quilt embossing folder, added to a piece of retired DSP and then to the card base.  I used Very Vanilla to stamp the panda and the card base.  The background is Soft Sky and the circles are cut from the Bundle of Love DSP.
